Have you ever looked upon a game you adore, and thought, what if? What if some magician took his wand and zapped it, causing it to transform into a different genre or, I don’t know, completely change its art style? This is sort of what I tried to do with the protagonist from Gelato Games’ Goblin Sword. You see, I secretly keep imagining a realistic version of the game with slightly more complex hack ‘n’ slash gameplay. Still 2D platformer at heart, of course, but with a visual upgrade in line with Prince of Persia Classic‘s transition to Xbox 360. Below is an anime-ish draft of what the hero could look like.

Ok, I shan’t lie. I’m getting rather tempted to make a Goblin Sword comic. Will update this page further if time/life(!) permits.
Realistic version, in which I obviously put more effort into the face than the body, because I am a slacker:

So I was just on Hero Forge, and created a couple of coloured models based on Goblin Sword‘s hero. They’re not bad, and this software has allowed me to visualise what a 3D version of the hero would look like, which is pretty damn cool. I’ve created two variations – the first is a poor young boy, inexperienced in battle, and the second is the hero we all know. Now I can’t stop my imagination running wild at the possibility of a 3D Goblin Sword!!!
