I still remember the first time I saw the trailer for Never Alone, an upcoming atmospheric puzzle platforming game about survival in the harsh Alaskan winter. I was fascinated. Hooked. There seemed to be a sort of magic emanating from the screen I had never experienced before. In the game you play as a young Alaskan girl called Nuna, and sometimes her fox companion in a co-op style arrangement with a focus on collaborative puzzle solving. Never Alone is described as a world game, a category which focuses on the preservation of indigenous cultures and stories. Ethnos Project have a fantastic interview on Never Alone which talks about the cultural impact of video games, and I was lucky enough to speak with part of the Never Alone team at IGM last month. While we do know the game is based on the story of Kunuuksaayuka, which is about an endless blizzard threatening the survival of Alaskan people, not too many spoilers than that have been given away-which definitely keeps the intrigue alive. Below I’ve whipped up a short comic based on my interpretation of everything I’ve seen so far-this is just me imagining how things could go in the game. I used a wacom intuos to draw it thereby making this a digital art piece. As always, constructive criticism and feedback is welcome. I hope you enjoy -kkatlas

Never Alone is due for release this fall on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC for $14.99
